Turning organic waste into high-performance materials for lower-carbon construction

BioCrete converts organic waste streams into aggregate replacement for concrete and cement applications, helping divert waste, reduce pressure on virgin sand, and support stronger, lower-carbon construction strategies.

Three Global Challenges

BioCrete is a circular materials platform designed to solve global waste, sand and construction challenges

an image reflecting the 3 global challenges BioCrete directly addresses being organic waste overload, construction materials constraints and CO2 profiles of waste and construction
  • food waste

1.4B tonnes of Organic waste per year

1.4 billion tonnes of organic waste are sent to landfill globally each year.

As organics decompose, they release methane, which is 28 times more potent than CO₂ . Organic waste accounts for 8% to 10% of annual global greenhouse gas emissions and as waste volumes rise, landfill is becoming an increasingly constrained and unsustainable pathway.

  • image of carbon dioxide being produced

+35% of global CO₂ generated by construction

Construction accounts for over 35% of global CO₂ emissions with concrete production  alone contributing around 8%. With over 30B of concrete being produced each year, reducing related emissions is a crucial pathway to lower-carbon construction.

  • Smooth Sand Texture

50B tonnes of scarce sand consumed annualy

50 billion tonnes of sand resources are consumed each year, making it the second most extracted material after water. Extraction is already outpacing natural replenishment, while demand from construction is projected to rise 45% by 2060, increasing cost, supply-chain and housing delivery pressure.

OUR SOLUTION

BioCrete links waste diversion, material circularity and concrete performance. We convert organic waste into a high-value construction input, reducing landfill pressure, easing sand demand and supporting lower-carbon construction supply chains.

We capture organic waste streams before landfill, helping waste producers, councils and communities reduce disposal costs, emissions and complexity.

1: Divert

We produce a patented biochar using a low-energy pathway, creating a stable, versatile material designed for use as an aggregate replacement.

2: Convert

We integrate into existing construction supply chains through flexible logistics, reducing transport complexity, cost and CO₂ across waste and construction networks.

3: Integrate

 Improved concrete strength
 Better hydration performance
 Reduced shrinkage & cracking
 Reduced sand reliance
 Reduced waste & construction CO₂

4: Improve

PARTNER WITH BIOCRETE

BioCrete works with waste stream owners, councils, resource recovery operators, concrete producers, logistics partners and research groups to validate, pilot and scale lower-carbon construction materials. Together, we can divert organic waste, reduce material pressure and create practical pathways for circular construction.
